As Dean of the School of Computing, Data Sciences & Physics (CDSP) at William & Mary, my vision is to build a bold, human-centered academic community that harnesses computation and data to advance discovery, strengthen society, and prepare students for a world shaped by rapid technological change. CDSP bridges theory and practice by integrating applied science, computer science, data science, and physics with the liberal arts to cultivate graduates who are technically excellent, ethically grounded, and capable of leading in complex domains. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, partnering with industry and government, and embracing responsible innovation in AI and emerging technologies, CDSP will serve as a catalyst for impact at William & Mary and beyond.

Over the past four decades, my research has focused on software-related topics, including patterns, optimization techniques, and empirical analyses of object-oriented and component-based frameworks and model-driven engineering tools that facilitate the development of distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) middleware and mobile cloud computing applications. Recently, my research has explored prompt engineering techniques and prompt patterns that enhance the accuracy and expressiveness of large language models (LLMs) and generative augmented intelligence platforms.
